Test Copies & Minor Tweaks
The test copies are IN! I had order copies from Barnes & Noble press, as well as Ingram Spark. Yes, I’ve heard it’s the same printing house but I wanted to be sure and besides these copies will be some of the copies that go out to others. Two paperbacks and one hardcover later the results are overall good, but I want to ensure they are great for the purchasing public. So, what were those minor tweaks?
The dust jacket of the hardcover needing to be adjusted ever so slightly because with the wrap around it wasn’t perfectly centered. Then the font was adjusted to size 11pt, the spacing was adjusted to 1.2 and left and right margins were increased to .75. This condensed the book from 334 pages to 240. The wider margins ensured that the center wasn’t eating the words and the change in spacing as well as type size made it look more professional while still being easily to read. Then I added a couple blank pages so that the “Dedication”, “Note to Reader”, “ Acknowledgements” and “About the Author” were all on the right side.
I fully belive these little changes will make the book best it can be and I can never put anything less than my best foot forward. The originals are still good but those who purchase deserve the best. Cheers to the neurotic details!
