Feedback, Revisions & Designs
First off, feedback is in. Now, granted the quantity of the individuals who signed up for beta-reading did not match the amount of feedback I received. I saw this without animosity because honestly I expected it. People overestimate how much time they have, underestimate how few commitments they have, and along the way things get dropped. I am however very grateful for the feedback I did receive.
I’ve been compiling that feedback directly address some parts of the story that needed filling out, refinement, and general soothing to improve. It’s actually been a lot of fun to read the comments from the editor I hired (Clarity Copy Co). Those will make an appearance later in some social media post of a sort since now editors, publishers, etc care about that too. Books are a commodity after all so again, not that surprising.
Anyways, those notes are being put to good use in tightening the story and delivering more depth. There are a few writer’s submission I plan to take part in where the first 3 chapters are submitted for possible editor review, etc. Those chapters have been getting all my attention but I think they are almost perfectly finished, for now anyways.
Along with the revisions I’ve been working on ideas of cover designs. I’m not saying I won’t hire a designer but since I do have a MFA why not put it to use. I had 4 original ideas and in typical Libra fashion, turned to the masses to vote. It was far more split than I expect but internally I found myself defending one whenever anyone would vote for a different one. This one went back for further revision, enhancement, and editing. Now, I have an image I’m happy with though I’m not promising there won’t be small modifications later. Real question is, which do you think I chose as the initial jumping off point?
