Beta Reader Anxiety

Sending your manuscript off to beta readers and waiting for their feedback feels like what I can only imagine when a child goes off to college or camp. You can’t help by worry and wonder what’s going on far away where you are not. Little Manuscript- are you ok? Are they treating you nice? Do you want to come home, yet? Ok, perhaps it’s a bit dramatic but this is new and waiting for any words to return is STRESSFUL. The words written are good but are they good enough? Of course not! There will be revisions - I’m not delusional. There is however a massive difference between flaming hot garbage and something that has potential. I can only hope it’s the later. My beta readers include my partner, my mom, someone who belongs to the same bookclub as me, a friend, her friend who I don’t know, a mutual connection’s mom and everyone else are random people I don’t know beyond social media some of which are also writers. It’s a wide variety of different people, ages and background so I’m very excited to see their feedback. Beta reader thoughts are to submitted by the end of May so we shall see very soon!
