Lunch with Rocio

One thing I’ve forever impressed by is the author community of Austin. There are ample writing groups, events, and authors. Best of all there are authors who want to genuinely connect, collaborate, and share their knowledge as well as experience. It feels too good to be true as we’re all creatives attempting to be seen by society. Yet, it is real and I’m so glad to have connected with so many various individuals, many of which by simply sending a DM.

Recently I met up for lunch with Rocio Carranza author of the novel Blood of the Blackthorn at ATX Food Co. A fellow relative newbie to Austin like myself who began pursuing her writing journey amongst this community. Always a bookwork, escaping to fantasy, and confronting all scary baddies; we had so much to chat about. From WIP, to community events/fairs/festivals, and book marketing techniques our conservation was equally fun and insightful. I can’t say enough good things and I’m so grateful to the random chance we met on social media to lead to this meeting. I’m sure there will be many more in the future!

I’d like to mention Rocio’s newest novel Flame in the Silver Storm with be released 9/30/25. You can pre-order HERE . If you’re interested in being a part of her Street Team or an ARC reader check out her links in bio on IG .
